The performance here in the United States in terms of education is really sad. Looking at this article about how poorly we perform in history, it makes you question what people are really interested in today. If they aren’t interested in war, peace, turbulent times, giant debates, etc. then what are they interested?
Don’t get me wrong, I love technology, but that’s one reason I consider for causing disinterest in history and learning in general. Technology gives short-term results and keeps people entertained, but not educationally most of the time. I can almost SEE people’s attention spans shrinking… It also seems to cause disinterest in even current affairs. I mean, who cares who is president as long as people get to watch their TV.
“Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people.” -Eleanor Roosevelt
What happens when you don’t even discuss events or people anymore?
okay, bet you can’t make it from the couch, over the coffee table, past the ottoman, onto the kitchen table, around the counter stools and into the refrigerator because…THE FLOOR IS LAVA!!
